In an effort to provide a transparent record of their participation and success, the government will provide digital diplomas to registered athletes nationwide, according to a statement made by Sports Minister Anurag Thakur on Thursday.

The digital certificate will serve as evidence of the athletes’ accomplishments and include the dates of their tournament participation.

“Moving Indian sports toward digitization even farther! The Government of India, via @YASMinistry, has taken a significant step to support the “,” with “athletes at the heart” of our developing and expanding sports ecosystem. In accordance with our “athlete-first” approach, National Sports Federations (NSFs) have been urged to use @GoI_MeitY’s DigiLocker initiative to provide athletes with credentials. This choice has been made to guarantee the papers’ accessibility, security, and accuracy as well as to encourage efficiency and openness in the NSFs’ sports administration. This will also result in a higher standard of life for our athletes nationwide. Thakur said on his social media account, “I humbly request all the concerned NSFs to embrace the technological advancements and assure them of the full support needed for a smooth and timely transition.”

During National Sports Day on August 29 of last year, the minister first revealed his intention to streamline procedures for athletes and National Sports Federations (NSFs).

In order to guarantee business convenience and sound governance, the NSF site was inaugurated on this occasion.

It is a single, centralized location for handling NSF elections and yearly renewals.

According to Thakur, the digital credentials would provide a fresh perspective to managing athletes and sports administration.
