<p>Arya Ganesh, a 14-year-old cricket player from Lalaji Omega International School in Chennai, is a rising star. He was the players’ choice in the most recent South Zone Under-14 competition held in Goa by the Goa Cricket Association as he finished as the competition’s top run scorer.</p>

<p>Arya receives his training at the Super Kings Academy in Chennai, where Louis Mariano, a mentor there for the last six years, serves as his instructor. He receives training from the academy’s head coach, Sriram Krishnamurthy.</p>
<p>He amassed 465 runs in seven matches at the competition, with an average of 77.50 with one century (159 not out) and four half-centuries (98, 82, 57, and 50). Thanks to his efforts, Tamil Nadu advanced to the final where they were narrowly defeated by Karnataka. Being a top-order batsman, Arya usually likes to bat third. He bowls leg spin as well. In the Under-14 South Zone competition held in Kerala last year, he played four matches for Tamil Nadu and scored about 160 runs, including two fifties. “Arya is a bright prospect for the state and a very good talent.” J Hariesh, head coach of the TNCA Under-14 squad, said of him, “He can clear the field easily (hit sixes at will) and once he settles down can make a big score.” “He can time the ball well because he has a good bat swing and makes good shot selection.”</p>
<p>When Arya was only 12 years old in 2022, he scored over 400 runs in the TNCA U-14 inter-school Somasundaram Trophy event. In the Take-Rotary Serenity U-19 Tournament final in 2023, he also scored 134 and won the title of Best Emerging Player. “These all demonstrate that he is moving forward. He has to becoming more physically strong and resilient. He scored almost fifty runs in the Goa final versus Karnataka before being out due to exhaustion. Things would have been different if he had persisted,” he remarked. Arya works out at the Super Kings Academy in the evenings after working out with Johnson Selvakumar every morning to increase his fitness.</p>
<p>Arya is happy with his early performance and hopes to improve his bowling game to make himself more versatile for the teams he plays for. He is now a 5th Division player for Gandhi CC in the TNCA League. There’s always room for improvement when it comes to hitting. In order to consistently take more wickets, I’m also putting a lot of effort into learning how to bowl with more variety and various angles,” Arya said.</p>
