<p>After Lewis Hamilton, the seven-time world champion and driver for Mercedes, argued that Formula One needed to amend the rules to control Red Bull, Max Verstappen reprimanded him by saying that “life is unfair.”</p>
<p>Before this weekend’s Austrian Grand Prix at Spielberg’s Red Bull Ring, Verstappen, who has won six of the season’s eight races, leads teammate and nearest challenger Sergio Perez by 69 points.</p>
<p>After winning 18 of the previous 19, Red Bull is seeking its tenth straight victory and is undefeated this year. <p>Hamilton was worried that Red Bull’s lead was now so big that they may immediately stop developing the current vehicle and focus on 2024. His own team won eight straight constructors championships from 2014 to 21.</p>
<p>The Britishman told Sky Sports television, “I think ultimately it’s likely that… at the end of the year we will probably catch Red Bull, but that’s probably because they are already concentrating on next year’s car.”</p>
<p>“Since they’re so far ahead, they don’t need to make any adjustments to this vehicle any more.</p>
<p>“I believe the (governing) FIA should likely set a period when everyone is permitted to begin working on the vehicle for the next year. It would be better if everyone started on August 1 to prevent anybody from having an edge throughout the next year.</p>
<p>Hamilton said that his team had never turned their focus to the next year so early when Mercedes’ dominance in the past was brought up.</p>
<p>The Briton said, “It has to change because they keep enabling it to happen and that’s why you’ve had domination for so long.</p>
<p>Verstappen added salt to the wounds when asked about Hamilton’s remarks at the formal FIA news conference.</p>
<p>The 25-year-old driver, who denied Hamilton a record eighth championship and won his first in 2021 in a hugely contentious Abu Dhabi finale that still divides the sport, said, “Life is unfair as well.”</p>
<p>It’s not only F1,” Life is unjust in many ways, therefore we must learn to live with it.</p>
