KL Rahul, a senior member of Team India and the captain of the Lucknow Super Giants, suffered an injury to his right thigh on Monday while playing against Royal Challengers Bangalore in an IPL game.
With the assistance of the team physio and a teammate who was in the reserve, Rahul hobbled off the pitch. After what seemed to be a strained thigh muscle while pursuing the ball and sprinting to the boundary, he was having trouble walking and had been lying on the ground moaning in agony for quite some time.
He hobbled and grabbed his right thigh before falling to the ground.
Rahul ran to save an impending boundary after Faf du Plessis hammered a Marcus Stoinis delivery through the extra cover area on the final ball of the second over.
The severity of the injury is yet unknown, and it is uncertain if the LSG captain will be able to bat when his side comes out to pursue the ball.
His ability to maintain wicket in the World Test Championship final may be in risk if the injury is a muscle rupture as opposed to a pull.
