With a victory against West Bromwich Albion, Sheffield United was promoted to the Premier League

Sheffield United defeated West Bromwich Albion 2-0 on Wednesday at euphoric Bramall Lane to seal promotion back to the Premier League.

Sander Berge and Anel Ahmedhodzic's goals helped Paul Heckingbottom's team defeat Albion, securing them the second automatic promotion slot in the Championship with three games remaining.

With six victories in their previous seven games, United, which is now in second position, surged to the finish line and pulled ahead of third-placed Luton, who has two games remaining, by seven points.

The Blades lost to Nottingham Forest in the Championship play-off semifinals last season and were demoted from the top division in 2021.

But in his second year as United's manager, Heckingbottom has skillfully led his team back to the pinnacle of English football.

Over the following three seasons, promotion will improve the Blades' earnings by up to £170 million ($212 million).

Heckingbottom's team has been consistently in the top two throughout the season, so this is a well-deserved prize.

This season, they also advanced to the FA Cup semifinals, surprising Tottenham in the fifth round before falling to Manchester City 3-0 on Saturday at Wembley.

A day after Burnley won 1-0 at Blackburn to clinch the Championship, United celebrated their promotion.

Burnley's 10-point advantage over United this season highlights their domination in the Championship.
